If you look carefully, you will see that the original textile used in this range was actually based on a brown trout (fantastic trout-fishing is one of Shetland’s many secrets). For obvious reasons, this description is perhaps not the most flattering of introductions - instead we decided to base the name on the type of knit stitch used in the construction. The highly original, subtly transparent fabric has almost an ethereal quality. Despite it’s light weight, the knit drapes magically, especially in the longer styles. It simply seems to cover you - to clothe you even - in a gentle, flattering way. Made from a combination of lambswool, silk and viscose (sometimes we use supersheen acrylic instead), the intricately textured fabric is nonetheless strong and wearable, ensuring that these garments are worn not only for special occasions. Yet it’s about more than just the fabric quality - colour, colour and more colour!!! The simple garment styles are perfect canvases for colour studies – so expect some unusual ones… Washing couldn’t be easier, once again you can wash in the hand-wash wool cycle in your washing machine (30 degrees celcius), or by hand. Currently available in two styles (a long and short jacket), we are working on new styles (for instance a new shrug/cape with optional sleeves) – make sure you keep coming back to check for new designs. |
