Hoswick is a lovely village with a welcoming heart – there are not many villages in Shetland with not only a geographical nucleus as well as such a sense of settled place. It is full of creative people, keen gardeners and other genuine folk who are not just connected to the land and sea but to their own cultures.

It is a wonderful place to visit – Lawrence Odie has traditional Shetland knitwear at fantastic prices. We are very proud of our Hoswick Visitor’s Centre which presents a hugely interesting account of the textile history in this area – and has the most haunting photographs of the Whale Caa. The welcoming staff also serves lovely snacks!

The village overlooks Hoswick Bay - our beach is fantastic for beachcombing, seal and wildlife spotting. Take a boat trip to the nearby RSPB protected Mousa Isle – an uninhabited island with a rich history and wonderful wildlife. Climb up the ancient Mousa Broch.

I strongly urge you to visit.
