Studio shop summer opening hours 2021

From May 1st 2021

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 10am-4pm

  • Closed on Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday (unless by prior arrangement).
  • Do get in touch if you'd like to arrange a visit outwith these hours: we  have some wriggle room! Drop us a line on
  • We also can give you a personal, virtual tour at a time to suit you.

low season (october-april)

The studio has reduced hours from October until the end of April. We will confirm these nearer the time.
However, if you would like to visit at a different time... we are almost always around in the village so please do get in touch!

Shetland wool week (annually - first week in october)

The studio shop is usually open daily during Shetland Wool Week. This year, wool week is online. We will confirm our opening hours for the autumn nearer the time.

The studio shop has an inviting and informal atmosphere – when not teaching SWW classes Niela can be found here chatting about life as a textile designer lucky enough to live in this rural village.

If you are passing through, you can also call across the road at Tigh Na Bruich (house with wooden fence) or telephone:

local facilities

We are very proud of our Hoswick Visitor Centre which presents a hugely interesting account of the textile history in this area – and has the most haunting photographs of the Whale Caa. The welcoming staff also serve lovely snacks!

Hoswick is a lovely village with a welcoming heart – a geographical nucleus with a close-knit population including many young families.

It is full of creative people and genuine folk, with strong local ties, who are not just connected to the land and sea but to their own history, culture and future.

The village overlooks Hoswick Bay - our beach is amazing for beachcombing, seal and wildlife spotting. Take a boat trip to the nearby RSPB protected Mousa Isle – an uninhabited island with a rich history and wonderful wildlife - and climb up the ancient Mousa Broch.
